WACS Student of the Month for January

Emma-Jane is the daughter of Eliza and Daniel Kirk. She has one older sister, Gillian, who is a sixth grader at St. Stan’s.

Emma-Jane is new to St. Stan’s this year. She came to our school with a lot of unique life experiences. She has lived in Georgia, Oregon, and had recently spent quite a few years living in the city of Dubai – which is part of the United Arab Emirates. She says her experiences in Dubai allowed her to learn Arabic, enjoy different foods, and be able to learn about a culture that is very different than the United States. Thanks to her, Emma-Jane’s classmates have learned a lot about life in Dubai.

Emma-Jane is active in school. She was elected to St. Stan’s Student Council and she also plays on the basketball team. Her favorite classes are English and reading. She likes being able to switch teachers for classes, and that technology is used in so many classes.

You will often see Emma-Jane with her head in a book as she is an avid reader. A few of her favorite books include Words on Fire and Heroes of Olympus. Another thing she enjoys is cross-country running.

A role model for Emma-Jane is her grandfather who lives in London. Despite a serious illness, he continues to remain a strong person with a positive attitude. Another person she looks up to is Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed. He was the leader of the UAE who was able to bring together 7 different nations to live in peace.

Teachers see Emma-Jane as a mature student with a wonderful work ethic. She is amazingly kind to everyone and always has a positive attitude about life. All of her classmates consider her a friend. She is an open-minded student with a passion for learning new things and helping those around her.

Congratulations to Emma-Jane!
