Dear Students and Parents,
Hello and welcome to second grade!
My name is Sister Marie Faustina. I am so happy to be your teacher this year. We are going to have a wonderful learning adventure. I promise I will try my best to help each of you children become the best learner you can be, especially for those of you who may not like school or find it difficult or scary.
For those of you who do not yet know me, I realize you may have many questions, such as, “What is a Sister?” and “What is she wearing?” These are great questions and I hope to share with you more about religious life throughout our year together.
To share a little more about myself, I grew up in a small town near central Michigan called Pewamo. I have two brothers and two sisters. I also have a large extended family with many younger cousins. Growing up, my grandparents’ house was always filled with children. We enjoyed playing kickball, basketball, fishing, hide n’ seek, and many other games.
I prayerfully decided to enter the Religious Sisters of Mercy of Alma, Michigan in 2012. The Religious Sisters of Mercy is a religious institute dedicated to the spiritual and corporal works of mercy with convents around the world, including one in Winona. Our most important work is that of prayer, followed by our works of service. As Sisters, we serve as teachers, professors, physicians, nurses, psychologists, and more. I professed the vows of poverty, chastity, obedience, and the service of the poor, sick, and ignorant in 2015, and I live in Winona with five other Sisters and our dog Mattie.
With prayers for you and your family,
Sister Marie Faustina, RSM
