What will we be working on…

*Place Value to 1,000

*Addition and Subtraction – one, two and three digit numbers…strategies and

problem solving

*Money – calculate the value of a group of coins (pennies, nickels, dimes and

quarters…up to a dollar)

*Time – to the nearest quarter hour and distinguish between AM and PM

*Fractions – whole, halves, thirds and fourths

**Measurement – standard and nonstandard units…measuring to the

nearest inch and centimeter

*2D and 3D shapes – classify by their sides, faces, edges and vertices

*Create and analyze information from tables, graphs and charts

 

What you need to know…

*The math homework for second graders will be to mainly work on basic

addition and subtraction math facts. By working on these facts at home, in

addition to at school, your child will be more successful with all of the units we

will be covering in the classroom. If other math homework is assigned throughout

the year, you will be informed of it at that time in their assignment notebook.
