MAY  MUSIC  NEWS

Congratulations to all 4th, 5th, and 6th graders on a wonderful job with their concert last night. Your hard work was evident in your performance, and I'm very proud of each and every one of you.

1st Grade - Students are reviewing ascending and descending melodic lines.   They've learned to play three note melodic patterns on xylophones and have used those instruments to accompany songs.

2nd Grade - Students are learning about ABA form in music.  They are also creating anolther section to add to that to make it rondo form.  They begin work on instruments of the orchestra and will learn about instrument families.  They will also learn to recognize those families aurally.

3rd Grade - Students are introduced to upbeat and downbeat and will recognize phrases that begin with each of those.  These concepts will be reinforced with clapping patterns.  They will also learn to play downbeats accurately in an accompaniment.    We will review dotted half notes and recognize them in their Unit songs.

Please join us each Friday for the Children's Liturgy at 9:30 in St. Stan's Church.

May 5 - Mrs. Nadeau - 5th Grade
